Tour Overview
Murchison Falls National Park is the largest in Uganda at 3840 square kilometers. This is where the Nile hurls itself into convulsions through a narrow crevice and then plunges 40 meters in one breath-taking leap.
This park has got lots of vegetation ranging from riparian forests and swamp lands to broad savannah, and it provides visitors the opportunity of seeing large concentrations of wildlife, including lions, leopard, civet, hyena, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, a host of smaller game, small primates, and many bird species, including the rare Shoebill stork. This park is also famous for crocodiles and hippos. You can enjoy a launch trip, a game drive, and a visit to the top of the falls.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala/Murchison Falls National Park
You will have an early departure from your hotel in Kampala at 7:00 am, heading for Uganda’s largest wildlife and Game Park. This journey will take you through the stunning, scenic countryside, filled with traditional homesteads and banana plantations, and along the roadside, there will be local fruit stands selling vegetables. You will also meet Uganda’s version of a drive-through fast-food joint, such as the Roasted Meat and Banana.
We can continue with the drive through Masindi town, where we will stop for lunch on the return journey, and then turn off for our safari to Murchison Falls National Park.
If you are looking for a map showing Murchison Falls, you can easily find it on Microsoft, where it is referred to as Kabalega Falls. The name Kabalega was given to the park by Idi Amin, and it was later changed to Murchison Falls soon after he left in 1979.
You will then arrive at your own lodge in Murchison Falls National Park. Immediately after lunch, we set off for the first game drive, which will welcome you to the park. Expect to spot residents of this park like elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes of all types, warthogs, and buffalo.
There is nothing to rush into, since the safari guide will stop at various spots so you can view all the wildlife species. You will retire to your lodge after the game drive and enjoy dinner there.
Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury)/Nile Safari Lodge (mid-range)/ Global Village Guest House (Budget).
Day 2: Morning Game Drive, Nile River Boat Cruise
Early in the morning, you will set off for another game drive safari across the savannah, driving along Lake Albert Delta, seeing stunning wildlife, making sure you take pictures as you move slowly as the sun rises, and spotting early risers.
You will see many animals, including lions, elephants, hippos, giraffes, leopards, buffaloes, warthogs, and birds. Remember, you are in Africa, and you are on a Uganda safari in the heart of it. Return to your lodge for a late breakfast and relax.
You will have lunch, then enjoy a boat cruise up the Nile River: you will slowly ride along the Nile River bank watching the crocodiles on the water, hippos, antelopes, elephants, buffaloes, and many different birds, including the water birds, fish eagle, shoebill storks, and many more.
The boat moves slowly up the river. Don’t travel on the right-hand side here; you just have to keep on the left-hand side to be in the right position to see most of the animals that come to the river to drink water. Herds of Elephants cooling off, hippopotamuses frolicking, crocodiles just romancing and dozing in the African sun. You will enjoy your Nile safari, have a delicious dinner, and spend the night at your lodge.
Dinner and overnight at Paraa Safari Lodge (luxury)/ Nile Safari Lodge (mid-range)/ Global Village Guest House (Budget).
Day 3: Travel back to Kampala
Early in the morning, you will have breakfast and then start your journey to Kampala, with a stop at the top of the falls, where the earth literally shakes with the power and strength of the falls. At this point, you will be able to spot a rainbow generated by the mists of the fall. There is a path down, and it is certainly another rewarding, once-in-a-lifetime African Safari experience you will remember for a long time. We shall then continue to Masindi, where you will have lunch, and then proceed to Kampala, arriving in the late afternoon.
Please note: You can add chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest or Rhino tracking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary at an extra fee.
